The food was truly remarkable! As a Ghanaian, I am so excited to witness our cuisine being showcased so skillfully. Tina is an exceptionally talented chef. I will be back with my entire family!

This review is over a few visits: PROS:Excellent Food!! Everything on the menu is authentic and delicious. The customer service is great and the bartender was energetic and had a great demeanor. The waiter was friendly and I saw the owner come out to greet the guests a few times. The environment is lovely and the music is nice. On one occasion they had a live DJ. Happy hour from 4-6pm with food discounts. CONS: They do NOT take cash. They add a MANDATORY 20% gratuity to ALL checks which is extremely tacky in my opinion. Difficulty to find parking, and you’ll have to pay for parking when you find a spot. Sometimes the food takes longer than expected to come to your table.

One of the best meals I've had in years... While Seattle has its restaurants we are all too familiar with, I love that it also can support local, authentic restaurants like Gold Coast Kitchen offering traditional West African Cuisine that will transport you with every bite. Starting with their Cocktails, you will not forget or regret ordering any of them. So much thought (but not too much thought) was put into making them well balanced while unique and special to the restaurant itself. The dinner menu doesn't overwhelm you with a hundred dishes, instead it simplifies your night and makes you want to order one of everything, which isn't the worst idea. We ordered the Plantains, Potato Greens with Fish, and Goat Peanut Soup with Fufu. Everything was spectacular, especially the Goat Peanut Soup which opened up all avenues of my taste buds. The aesthetic of the restaurant is bright, simple, thoughtful, and welcoming. Staff was there whenever you needed them and no request was ever slept on. Overall, so thankful to have this as a new go-to spot to impress my friends with and can't wait to come back and try all of the other dishes on their menu!

Absolutely amazing food. Very flavorful and delicious. We got the whole fish and Jill of rice, both were mind blowing. Would definitely recommend getting the whole fish. The drinks were good too. So far the best African food I’ve had in the states

Are you tired of having the same food in Seattle? This is the place to go. Food is amazing, staff is friendly, and it's just a refreshing new experience. The dishes are large and soooo good. Can't recommend this enough. One tip: ask for the dishes one at a time if doing family style because they get cold!

Chef and Owner Tina is providing a breath of fresh air at GCGK, cooking up serious soul food that left me fat and happy. The variety of flavors though diverse, all work together for a well-fixed plate of grub you don't want to put down. I eat quite a bit and couldn't quite polish off my jollof rice, and I came hungry. The portions for the price are fantastic. And if you are trying to be frugal, their sides menu and more affordable appetizer offerings are a great bang for your buck. Though based on what I had, I'd throw pretty much any amount of money Tina's way to cook me something lovely. The vibe and ambience is reminiscent of a downtown spot in Portland, a cozy home atmosphere but with some modern flare. The back-bar is gorgeous, and their cocktail game isn't anything to sneeze at. I have run a few bars in Portland area as well as greater Seattle area, and can say that though they are simple offerings, they are executed in a powerful way. No negative comments on the drink service. I came on a Wednesday and was surprised so see how busy it was, and it sounded like people around me were enjoying their experience along with me. The restaurant is intimate, and really drives the nail in of being a soul spot. The culture and care and trendy music make for a really nice date night destination, solo quick bite and drink watering hole, or whatever else you can think of. And they take care of takeout orders as well as catering! Only being open a year and some change, I can confidently say they are doing something special here, and I look forward to the development of the joint!

Amazing! Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Seattle. Came here with several friends a few months ago and I’m very late to review. I had the fried plantain, veggie empanada and the branzino. Let me tell you, that branzino was THE BEST I’ve had in my entire life. I’m pescatarian, I eat fish all the time, this was exceptional and memorable. The drinks were all amazing as well. We shut the place down enjoying friendship and great company, that’s the type of place this restaurant is. I can’t wait to return again soon.

Met a friend after work for girls’ dinner after one of her coworkers recommended. It was delicious and so fun to try as someone who hadn’t experienced fufu before! The peanut soup is incredible and the short ribs are delicious. Large portions, friendly and helpful staff, and well decorated interior. Definitely a gem, excited to return for more weeknight dinners and date nights.
